Garden Chair

SOLD
Garden Chair
22 cm x 22 cm. 8 1/2 in x 8 1/2 in.
Watercolour

“In this painting I have been trying to paint the spaces, looking at the shapes they make rather than the objects themselves. As well as the play of light and dark it is important to try and infuse the feeling of the place. It is the afternoon, work has gone on in the late summer flower borders and now it is time for tea. A chance to sit a while in an old chair, to enjoy the colours and smells of the garden and watch as summer turns into autumn.”

This is also available as a giclee print in a strictly limited edition of 25

This lovely painting is so inviting. Who would pass by that chair and not sit down to rest?
