Bristol Morning.

Bristol Morning.
20cm x 15cm. 8 in x 6in.
Oil gesso board.

Near the market in the old centre of Bristol is Christ Church with St Ewen. On this church are two little guys called the Quarter Jacks who ring the bells on the quarter hour. They were the original focus of this painting, however the sun was shining brightly and making shadows so the little Quarter Jacks became indistinct and I was seduced by the buttery coloured stone. Many of the buildings have been cleaned and now the city seems to glow in the sunshine.
