Tin Barn, Manaccan.

Tin Barn, Manaccan.
Oil on wood
33.5cm x 25cm. Or 13in x 10in
I love rusted corrugated tin. I like the colours and the gentle curving shapes that develop over time. This barn stands in a corner of a field that looks out to sea. I turn my back on the sea to indulge in a little rusted tin worship!

Sky Hole and Yellow Gorse.

Sky Hole and Yellow Gorse.

WatercolourApprox 40cm x 50cm or 16in x 20in.
A squall of rain darkens the sky making the gorse flowers into tiny beacons of colour; far away across the sea there is better weather on the way.

Sessile Oak, First Leaves.

Sessile Oak, First Leaves.
Watercolour
24cm x 32cm or 9.4in x 12.6in.

The first flush of green is softening the edges and smoothing the stark trees with a blush of tender leaves. I am sitting in a field to paint this, all I can hear are wood pigeons, far off gulls and sheep and the buzz of insects enjoying the warm spring sunshine. Lunchtime comes around and the distant voices of children released for playtime at the village school adds to the feeling that I have of playing truant!

Sheep 179.

Sheep 179.
WatercolourApprox
40cm x 50cm or 16in x 20in.
The fields are jumping with lambs and bright fresh grass. The clean blue sea is the backdrop, the gentle voice of the sheep borne on the light breeze becomes the soundtrack. I feel full of the excitement of Spring, the promise of those hot summer days comes closer. Sheep 179 watches as I draw, then she gets bored and goes back to her lamb and the new grass.

Cows in the Rain.

Cows in the Rain.
This is from my caravan, the poor cows all lined up to go in for milking, rain lashing down on them, mud all around!
