In The Morning

In The Morning
Oil on Gesso card
7 in x 4 in or 17.7 cm x 10.16 cm

In the morning the sun is golden and low, the air is still, mist rising from the water.
The water is slow and quiet, licking the shore like a languorous lover.
Curlew breaks the silence with his watery, liquid greeting to the day.

Full Moon

Full Moon
Watercolour
Sketchbook

I love trying to paint at night.  I like the way your eyes adjust to the light and different places show their colours as you look at them.  I also love the quietness, how the sounds of the night become so sharp.  This is in my tiny garden behind my house, it is just about 4am. a toad hops slowly across the gravel, owls hoot and far away a dog barks.  Ha...I can hear someone snoring!

Sunset

Sunset
Watercolour
Sketchbook
Sometimes the sunset is so beautiful that it is just impossible not to sit down and paint it.  This is the view from my new conservatory/studio, well from my home and I shall post some pictures of this most lovely place (in my opinion) over on Muddy Red Shoes.

Bright afternoon but it is getting cold, the leaves are beginning to turn.  This is up on Dennis Head looking towards Nare Point.  Beautiful blue that sea!

Morning Boats

Morning Boats
Watercolour
Sketchbook

With the autumn settling in more boats are being pulled up for the winter.  The top of the beach down at St Anthony is cluttered with big and little craft, their swooping shapes highlighted in the first rays of the sun.

Eden

Eden
Watercolour
Sketchbook
I had a day out, much needed, total bliss.  The Eden Project is lush, green, exotic, interesting, inspiring...it was great.  I want to live in the temperate zone, inside the domes, make a bed among the vines, cook beneath the olives, while outside it can rain I wont care I shall be snug in my micro world, grow my own food and feed the tame birds that live there.
I had a fine time indeed.

Rope and Seaweed

Rope & Seaweed
Watercolour
Sketchbook

Low tide at the bottom of the steps in Falmouth.  Dave eats a pasty up top while I sit in the damp and do this, I love the hanks of seaweed and ominous wall with the bright boats beyond.
Looks like this new sketchbook is fast becoming the book of panoramas!

Rain Heavy Sky

Rain Heavy Sky
Watercolour
Sketchbook.

Low early morning sun bathing everything with a golden wash while behind the sky is rain heavy, loaded and leaden.
Don't forget to click on the image to actually see it, these panoramas come out too small for my liking .  Below is a detail.

Field Study

Field Study
Sketch book
Watercolour.

This one really must be clicked on to see the larger image.  I love doing double page panoramas in my sketchbook but here they always present so small, so please click on the picture to see it better.  This is the early morning sun rising over misty autumn fields, they have just ploughed in the stubble, the colours were so subtle and earthy, surprise surprise!
