Frost, Mist and Smoke

Frost, Mist and Smoke.
Oil on Canvas
45 cm x 35 cm or 17.7 in x 13.8 in

Early morning down at Gweek boatyard, the houseboats are waking up, woodburning stoves alight, the smoke mingling with the mist.  Frost has painted everything, there is a blueish light but as the sun rises a softer yellow arrives.  The cold water seems to be thicker than usual, reflecting the sky back in brighter colours.  River birds break the morning air with their cries.

Magnificent!!!

Your painting has really taken off again since you came to Cornwall - or maybe it's getting up early in the morning which helps? ;)

This is so atmospheric. It feels as if I'm there.
