Early morning down at Gweek boatyard, the houseboats are waking up, woodburning stoves alight, the smoke mingling with the mist. Frost has painted everything, there is a blueish light but as the sun rises a softer yellow arrives. The cold water seems to be thicker than usual, reflecting the sky back in brighter colours. River birds break the morning air with their cries.
