Oil on gesso board

It had rained in the night leaving pools of water in the boats. By the time I was down by the quay the sun was shining, everything was drying. The air was laced with the smells of wet ropes and seaweed and tidal mud. Small reflections shone in the boat, tiny windows into another world and there were diamonds in the mud. A rich day.

And a rich painting. Lovely.
Love your work! Just found this and I am so glad. This unique point of view is riveting. Your work inspires me to get out and into my own surroundings more often. Thank you!
I am amazed at the intricacy of the wooden slats of the boat and how you give a feeling of so much depth and texture - really terrific.
Like the sparkles in the water.
Mmmmm, my favorite part of this delicious painting are the squiggles and scribbles of paint and light on the left. A perfect counterpoint to the strong architecture of the boat. Altogether such a powerful little painting. Very Japanesey, very bold ;D.
