Trifle

Trifle
Watercolour 65cm x 45cm or 25.5 inches x 18 inches

A change is as good as a rest, I am having a summer holiday in a painterly kind of way, doing some of my "recipe" still lives.  This is the very English pudding called Trifle, with duck egg custard, raspberries, cherries, jelly and sponge and of course sherry!  Thinking about it I might have to add a few hundreds and thousands.
Enjoy!

ahhh, my mother used to make trifle, with a recipe from her Scottish mother -- delish! This is a lovely painting -- reminds me of Bonnard......nice.

Make that LOTS of sherry! Just as my Grandma makes it, it's the only part of the recipe she doesn't measure out. She just glugs it in instead! :) Cherry Brandy works a treat in trifle too, as does Cadbury's Flake or any other kind of delicate/shaved chocolate. Yummy!

This is a great piece. I love the perspective, which must have been pretty challenging to set up? The raspberries are excellently done, as are all the patterns. Good work!
